Homeschooling Week 2!!!

Week 2 was a little more challenging than week 1 :(  The challenges really had nothing to do with school or school related stuff.  The problems were most centered around the fact that we had to go out of town for a funeral and since we had spent the previous weekend in PA we had some major listening problems :(  I had hoped for another enthusiastic week of learning but sadly it did not the way I wanted it too.

We did get a chance to learn some wonderful stuff during week 2 but I would have loved for it to go a lot smoother :)  We did cut out Math this week since I had such problems getting through everything else.  I think we will put Math on hold for a couple more weeks till we get a really good rhythm and schedule down!  Hopefully next week will be better!!!

The Diaper Addict Hybrid AI2 - Review

Outside of Diaper

The 1st time I met Amie from The Diaper Addict was last spring.  She was invited to a meet up I was going to by a fellow WAHM that I know.  We met at the mall play place one morning, hung out, chatted and chased some little ones around!  Thinking back on it I believe this was in late March to early April, since I was picking up Baby K's birthday diaper and we were talking about the event.  I was still looking for a couple days to fill in April so Amie was generous enough to donate a set of cloth wipes for one of the days!  This is where things started but it was just the beginning :)

I followed The Diaper Addict on Facebook since our 1st meeting and have kept in touch with Amie.  We would chat every once in a while on Facebook, keep up with each others pages, and the other surface stuff.  During the Olympics was when everything started to go below the surface!  Pretty much everyday I was spotlighting one of the Olympic diapers she made!  I would message her with how many likes, comments, shares, etc. the diapers were getting!

Genghis Grill!!! Super YUMMY!!!

 Last spring we got an awesome new place to eat near where Hubby works.  He had gone there a few times before he finally took me after church one day.  When he explained what it was to me I was super excited to try it out!  You may already know where I am talking about (hint: the title!), but if you don't it is Genghis Grill and you have to check out their website to see if there is one close to you!!!

Chicken Teriyaki Bowl

Genghis Grill is build your own stir fry restaurant.  It is not really a sit down place but it is not fast food either.  You go up to their fresh ingredient bar that has around 80 items and choose what you want in your bowl!  1st you grab any proteins you want, then you add your seasonings, top that with your veggies, and pick your sauce in its own little cup!  You then take your bowl up to the big counter to be cooked where you pick your starch.  They cook it for you on a HUGE Mongolian BBQ and bring it to your table when it is finished!!!  Super easy, super yummy and you make it your way!!  You can check here to see what ingredients they offer :)

Lulu's in the Fluff - Review

I am a Pittsburgh girl at heart!!!  Always have been and always will be no matter how long I have lived away!!  I bleed black and gold and LOVE supporting anything that deals with back home!  So you could imagine how excited I was to find out that there is a cloth diaper store in Pittsburgh!!!  Technically I would consider it Robinson Twp.  But still it is was an awesome new place to check out last time I went home!!

Homeschooling Week 1!! How do you think it went? :)

I know this post is long over due (4 weeks to be exact) but hey things come up being a Mama of 2, homeschooling, and do everything else.  Plus we had a couple of long weekends that included going to PA for a Memorial Service, Father-in-law coming down, my Dad coming up and A's 4th birthday.  So overall I have been a little behind but I am working on catching up!!!

So how did week 1 go?!?!?  I am very surprise and super excited to say that it went GREAT!!!  We had some problems over the summer when we were just getting to know the curriculum and not really "officially" starting school.  But I told her Monday morning (8/20) that we were officially starting school and everything changed.  She was super excited to start and was an excellent listener!!

To Wear Or Not To Wear...That Is The Question

Is it a silly question?  Yes and NO!!  Not everyone believes in baby wearing and even some who do believe in it don't use the right type of carrier!  No this is not going to be a post about "You are doing it WRONG," this is going to be a post about how baby wearing helped when A was little and how I fell in LOVE with it with Baby K!

When A was born I knew NOTHING about ANYTHING when it came to having my own baby!  I knew the basics like most do but nothing very in depth.  I knew carriers were nice for little babies but that is about it.  When A was 1st born I don't even think I had a carrier for her.  I think not too long after she was born we bought a crotch dangler (Don't jump all over me :)  We didn't know any better 4 years ago!!!).  But A had really bad reflux when she was little until around 9 months.  So we would put her in the carrier and go for walks every night during her "fussy" time.  Within the 1st month after having A we bought a Dr. Sears Sling.  Hubby did a lot of research on reflux and Dr. Sears website and book were a go to for us.  That is where we found out about the sling.

Wordless Wednesday - 9/12/12

In honor of Baby K turning 17 months TODAY I thought that Wordless Wednesday should be about her!!!

I title this picture "I Like To Get My Hand Stuck"!  She now like to take the covers off of her highchair where toys go and shove her hand into the opening and get her hand stuck!!!  It usually ends in lots of tears and her doing it again!

Where were you for 9/11?

"Where were you when 9/11 happened?" is the question that my generation will be able to answer like my parent's generation could answer, "Where were you when Kennedy was shot"?  When something so horribly tragic happens most people will remember where they were, who they were with and other little details.  I will start this post with saying this will NOT be about my thought or feelings about what is currently happening or what has happened over the past 11 years.  This post will ONLY be about that 1 day in modern history that I will never forget!

The morning of September 11, 2001 was like any normal morning for me.  I was a senior in high school that year and of course had to go to school.  I went to school like I did any day, reporting to my 1st class of the day. 

The Birth of a Precious Baby Girl!!!

I decided that since A turned 4 this past Saturday (9/8/12) I would write about her birth!  Don't worry their will not be all kinds of blood and guts spelled out into words but at the same time it will not be a flowers and roses!  When I had A NOTHING went as planned!  I had probably the worst Doctor ever and a really bad experience!  So lets start :)

I was due with A on September 7th, a Sunday, in 2008.  I was 2 cm dilated for weeks and the doctors kept telling me that there was no way I was going to make it to my due date.  Man were they WRONG!!!  They decided to induce me on September 8th because that practice did not let you go past your due date.  But since my due date was a Sunday that waited till Monday morning.  I was fine with being induced.  A was my 1st baby and I really didn't know any better, plus I was ready for her to get out!!! 

So I arrived at the hospital super silly early on the morning of September 8th to have my precious baby girl.  They were suppose to start the induction at 7 am but there was no bed for me.  I was already super nervous to get everything started and ended up waiting around another 2 hours before things finally started!  They ended up finally starting around 9 am.

Best Cloth Diapers to Leave for Daddy!!!!

 Being a SAHM, there are not many times that I am actually way from Baby K for diapering to be an issue.  But when I do go out of the house and leave Hubby home with her I need a diaper that he will not mind using.  I really don't want to leave disposables for him because I really want her to be in cloth.  But most of the diapers I have would be confusing for most people who are not around cloth all the time.  My stash contains a lot of AI2s and if you don't know how to fold the insert it could be really bad :)

Owls and Hats for a Great Cause!!!

On September 1st Stacked Peanuts kicked off a new project! For every owl and hat purchased during the month of September they will be donating $1 to Shriners Hospital for Children!!!

Shriners Hospital for Children's mission is:

Cheap, Cheap Wipes!!!

 I have been CDing since December but it has taken FOREVER for me to switch to cloth wipes!  You may already use them and wonder 'why hasn't she taken the plunge yet?'  Well simply because I didn't want to spend the money on them.  And yes I know in the long run I will end up saving more money using cloth wipes than using disposable.  But for some reason spending around $50 on good wipes just seemed too much to me.  I wanted to spend that money on more diapers instead of wipes.  So I continued to use disposable wipes.

Honestly for me I think disposable wipes are just easy.  I use them for EVERYTHING!!!  Not only do I use them to clean tushies but I also use them to clean hands and faces and floors when kids spill stuff.  But I know use way too many and spend way too much on them.  So I had wanted to switch to cloth wipes for a while.  I ordered some a while back from Amazon.  I don't remember the brand currently but they were a good deal.  It was something like $8 for 15 wipes or something.  They were the cheapest I could find.  But they never lasted long and I really didn't like them.

 So I went back to disposable wipes.  Till I saw on a friends Facebook page that she was using washcloths she found really cheap from Walmart.  So of course I had to get some :)  I ended up getting 24 wipes for UNDER $6!!!  Best deal ever!!!  I will say that they are a little rough when you first take them out of the package but once you wash them they are better!
