Organic Ergo Baby Carrier - Review

I sent Ergo Baby an email back before my Baby K's 1st birthday event to see if they wanted to be a sponsor.  Sadly I never heard back from them.  I figured since I was just starting out and I didn't have awesome numbers, at the time, that they did not want to work with me at that time.  I was fine with that :)  Then at the end of July I got the coolest email EVER!!!  It was from Ergo!!  They had switched a bunch of stuff around in the last few months and came across my request for a review and giveaway!!

I was so super excited that I screamed and scared the Hubby :)  He wanted to know what was up and I told him.  He knew that it was a big deal and was super excited for me!  I could not believe that an awesome company like Ergo was willing to work with SAH CD Mama!!!  So I received my awesome Ergo in the mail and have had the best contact emails with Christina from Ergo about the carrier!!  She sent me a Black Organic Ergo Baby Carrier ( super soft)!!  I was super happy for the Black carrier because now Hubby LOVES to carry Baby K every once in a while!  And I have loved following them everywhere :)  They keep me up to date on all their awesome products, giveaways and information on Baby Wearing on Facebook, Twitter, and Pinterest!!!

My Thoughts

I am going to organize my thoughts about the Organic Ergo Carrier a little different than I usually do :)  I am going to delete some of my usual subheadings and add a couple extra :)  Plus I am going to add Daddy's view!!!!!

Baby K on the front at the end of the hike!
How often do I use it:  Honestly I use my carrier just about every single day.  I use it for the simple things, like standing in line to get lunch to the major things, like grocery shopping.  Anytime I want to have a free hand I just toss Baby K on and go :)  Having my carrier has truly made my life a lot simpler than I thought it would!!!

Where all have I used it:  I have used it in line at Starbucks and Chipolte.  I have used it at Target, Walmart and the Grocery store.  I have used it while standing outside at Hubby's work picnic.  I have even used it while climbing a mountain!!!  I have also used it in DC (all day), both in town and at the zoo and in Williamsburg.  I use it around the neighborhood while walking.  I use it just about everywhere except for around the house.  Baby K is old enough at this point that she does not always want to be attached to me.  Usually she is playing with her sister during the day while I am doing things.

Mommy and Baby K at the top of a mountain!!
Recommend:  I would definitely recommend a carrier like this to any Mama!!!  I love the Organic carrier because it is super soft!!  I have tried another Ergo and I did not like it as much because it was not as soft.  I also have a friend who absolutely LOVES her Ergo Sport carrier.  If you need/want a carrier I would highly recommend checking out Ergo!!!  And if you have a store close to you (like I do, Abby's Lane) I would tell you to go into the store and check them out before buying.  You can find a store near you here!  Because what one person loves about a carrier may not be what you love about it!

My favorite things:  I love the hood that this carrier has and how easy it is to snap on when baby falls asleep.  I did have to have A hand me the 2nd side to snap while Baby K was on my back because my arm does not bend in weird ways :)  I also love the zipper pouch that the carrier has!!  You can throw your keys and cell phone in the pouch for when you go hiking or just walking around the neighborhood.

Things that are not my favorite:  The only thing I really don't like about the carrier is that buckle system.  The buckles on the Organic carrier do not have safety buckles.  They do have a piece of elastic that the strap goes through 1st and then buckles but I would much rather see safety buckles!

Daddy and his girls
Overall:  Overall I have loved this carrier and it has been a great addition to my baby gear!!!  I love that the carrier I received is black so that Hubby will also use it!  The Organic fabric is super soft against both adults and baby's skin and is comfortable to wear.  It is easily adjustable from one parent to the other making it less hassle it switch who carries baby!!!  Definitely make sure to check out an Ergo in person next time you get the opportunity!!!

Hubby's thoughts:  Overall, I like the carrier.  Being a tall guy it surprisingly fits me well.  Usually stuff like this is not made with tall men in mind and does not always fit right.  I do have to adjust about 4 parts for the carrier to fit me though, making it a little time consuming.  But with help from the Wife we have it set to my size in no time.  I also have not mastered putting Baby K on my back without help yet.  I am a little overly cautious with that and prefer to have help to make sure she is safe and secure.  I would recommend this carrier to Dad's, especially tall ones, who want something easy to use and manly looking.

All opinions are my own and not influenced in any way.  This Organic Ergo Baby Carrier was  provided by ErgoBaby for review.  No additional compensation was accepted for this review.

  1. LOVE my ergo!! I think that is so awesome they gave you one to try and to do a giveaway with. Makes me love the company even more. I always highly recommend an Ergo to anyone that wants to babywear.

  2. This is my absolute favorite carrier! I have used so many in the past with my daughter that when we were gifted this one with my son I fell to my knees. It is the most comfortable ever. I love how evenly it distributes baby's weight so it doesn't even feel like I am carrying him! Oh how I wish I had it in teal or black though! Or black with a teal hood. OH!
My only complaint is I wish I could wear baby forward facing with out having to put him on my back. But that is just a tiny thing. I don't mind cuddling him :)

  3. I love the Ergo Organic colors a little more..I'm a sucker for the desert bloom one. I never perfected the art of getting my toddler on my back without help either. Hopefully by baby number 3 I will have it mastered!

  4. Great review! I think that you forget how much a carrier could come in handy, especially somewhere like Target, or the Grocery store where you might not want to put baby in the cart. Also Ergo's are the best for hikes! I love your pictures. We have used ours to hike Point Lobos here in California, and Dorr Mountain in Bar Harbor Maine. We are moving to Alaska in April and would love to have a new one to use! :)

    1. I actually did put that I use mine at the grocery store :) But you may not have seen that part :) I never put Baby K in a shopping cart anymore!! It is just easier to throw her on my back and go!!! Bu thanks so much for reiterating the usefulness of using a carrier at stores! And I love that you have used a carrier from coast to coast :)

  8. I like the hip straps. I have a cheap carrier that just goes over my shoulders and it is so uncomfortable! I also like that it can fit a large range of children's weights and is machine washable!

  22. I recently tried on an ergo and it was pretty comfy. I was thrilled that the waist belt fit without an extender as I'm a plus size mama. I would love to win one as I have yet to figure out back carries with my wrap.

  23. I'd like to try this. I like that it can carry a toddler up to 45 lbs and could fit either my husband or I.

  24. Good to know that it doesn't have the safety buckles. I will have to look to see if te other ergos have them.

    1. I know that my friends Ergo Sport does not have them so I am assuming that all Ergos don't. We haven't had any problems without them but if little one likes to play with buckles then I would be a little scared.

  27. I love that your husband shared his feelings about the ERGO. I think my husband has only ever once worn a "baby" and we have 4 kids. I would love to see him wear our youngest (or even the toddler) every once in a while. Maybe I just need to find the perfect carrier for him - we'll have to give this one a try.

After reading this review, I love the organic ergo baby carrier! My baby boy will be 5 weeks soon and he's starting to sleep a little less but wants to be in mama's arms a little more and i don't want to sacrifice time that i can spend with him and time that i could be doing things around the house, so this would be the answer to my dilemma! :) Thanks for the review post :)
