bumGenius Elemental OS AIO - Review

Outside of Elemental
When I met with the wonderful owner of The Cloth Nook over a week ago see gave me a bumGenius Elemental OS AIO to review and GIVEAWAY!!!  I have wanted to try bumGenius for a while but just never got around to it.  I feel in love with their Albert print :) and Hannah was nice enough to allow me to have that print to review.  When I brought it home and showed my husband he LOVED it.  He is really not into CDing but goes along with it.  So to have him excited about this diaper was great.  Hubby is a Computer Engineer and I have a degree in Mathematics so the Albert print suits our family well!!!

About the diaper (from the manufacture)

Inside of Elemental

Made With Organic, One-Size... affordable.

Looking for organic, natural fibers next to your baby’s bottom? Our award winning one-size bumGenius design is now available with luxuriously soft, 100% organic cotton inside. bumGenius Organic One-Size Cloth Diapers offer an industry first - tabs that stretch for a perfect fit. Stretchy tabs combined with our brand-new snap fasteners make cloth diapering easy. Our new, "no-stuff" system is an ideal solution for families with a child in day-care or family members resistant to cloth diapers! It really is as easy to use as a disposable diaper. Using the snaps on the front of the diaper, adjust the size if needed, put the diaper on your baby, wash, dry and re-use. No extra steps. No stuffing. No cover required. Our one-size diapers are designed to fit most babies weighing between 7 and 35 pounds.

My Thoughts

Ease:  For the most part the Elemental is extremely easy to use.  It is an AIO so there is no stuffing or extra parts to this diaper.  All you really have to do is snap the rise setting and snap it on the baby.  It is a little difficult to use at 1st since the absorbent area is attached a the front and the back only.  When you snap down the rise setting you have extra material in the absorbent area and have to fold it to fit better.  I try to fold it in the front of the middle area for Baby K since she is a girl.  Having to do this is not a big of a deal once you get the idea of how much and where to fold for your little one.  Cleaning up the poo out of the diaper is a little bit of a pain since both ends are attached to the diaper itself.  The 1st time I put the diaper on Baby K she decided to poo in it.  And not the nice kind but the I'm teething kind.  It was a mess and when I was done cleaning up the diaper the WHOLE thing was soaked :(  But it was worth it for how cute she looks in the diaper!!

Price:  The bumGenius Elemental OS AIO is $24.95.  Most AIOs are around this price point.  You pay for easy and functionality.  I have found AIOs for around $10 cheaper but they do not have the cute prints/colors like the bumGenius.  Personally I don't know if I would buy an AIO for this price.  If the print called to me like the Albert did then I would :)  But honestly I am more of a pocket girl than an AIO girl.

Hanging out in the Elemental
When and Why I use it:  This diaper can hold A LOT of pee :)  Yesterday I decided to try and leave Baby K in the diaper as long as I could to see how much it could hold.  Finally after 3 1/2 hours I just couldn't leave her in it anymore.  Not because it was leaking but because I felt bad that she has been in it for that long :)  The thing can hold.  This is now one of my diapers that I use when "I just don't know when I will be able to change you again".  It also will be a great nap time diaper but I'm not sure if I would try it for overnight.  I have found a great system for overnight and I am afraid to try anything else.  For an AIO that has extra material to it (depending on the size of baby), it is extremely trim.  It looks great under a pair of pants and even better under a skirt :)

Recommend:  I would definitely recommend the bumGenius Elemental OS AIO to anyone who wants ease and/or a fun print.  If you have not found an AIO that works for you yet I would try the bumGenius.  They have some of the most adorable prints I have seen and the construction of the diaper is top notch.  They make some of the most well know and popular diapers on the market, so they must be doing something right :)

Thank you to The Cloth Nook and especially to the owner Hannah.  You have been extremely generous and wonderful.  I have enjoyed getting to know you and I know that I will be seeing you soon!!

All opinions are my own and not influenced in any way.  The diaper was provided by The Cloth Nook NOT the Manufacturer for review.  No additional compensation was accepted for this review.

  1. I use the Bum Genius 4.0 diapers and am interested in getting the AIO's to see how they compare leakage wise. Thanks for your honest opinion.

  3. I am in love with BG! I admit I've tried the Elemental already and it is one of the trimmest diapers I own. And I agree that Albert is an amazing print.:)

  4. I have one of these and would love to add more to my stash. A couple things I would also mention about the diaper -- it takes a looong time to dry (still worth it, but don't expect a quick turn around) and the inner material stains easily (sunning helps, but it just doesn't clean as white and bright as some other diapers). These are both a little on the negative, but I would still say this is a great go-to AIO diaper :)

  5. Not sure why I thought a different type of BG when you told me about this review. I have two elementals and love them for overnight. =)

  10. I really want to try this diaper b/c it's an AIO and organic. I'm glad that you found it to be so absorbent. The only thing keeping me away from it is the price and also afraid of cleaning up after a poo with the way the soaker is attached. I think I still want to give it a try though.

  11. I've never tried these, mostly due to the price point as well. I do like the convenience though - maybe I should get one for when baby is with the babysitter?

  12. In reply to Nikki, it helps to turn it inside out to help it dry faster. I love this diaper (have two) and it is well worth the price to have a few in one's stash - both for babysitters and long daytime diapers. I love it! :)
