Aplix VS. Snaps

When it comes down to picking diapers probably the most important decision you will have to make is Aplix VS. Snaps!!!  But what should you chose?  What is best for you?  What is best for baby?  Such a had decision :)

For me it was an easy decision!!  I went with SNAPS!  Why?  Honestly because I like the look of snaps better than the look of Aplix.  But I also started cloth diapering when Baby K was 8 months old.  If I would have started at newborn and used newborn diapers I would have chose Aplix and then switched to snaps with OS diapers.

Aplix is a great choice for a newborn or before baby messes with their diapers.  When baby is a newborn you are changing them so much that aplix would make it faster and easier.  But once baby starts to mess with their diaper aplix will also be easier for them to take off :)

Snaps on the other hand are harder for baby to play with but also take a couple extra seconds to for parents to use :)  I also feel that it gives the from of a diaper a cleaner look!  So it comes down to how old is baby? What type of look do you like?  And how easy do you want it to be for you AND for baby :)

So what are your diapers?  Aplix or Snap?  Why?

Project Pomona Jeans - Review

Project Pomona Review 2012
Fronts

I have been lucky enough to be able to work with Meghan from Project Pomona on a wonderful review!!!  Meghan has been super sweet to work with, especially with everything being so busy with the holidays.  She has always been there when I needed anything and I always felt like I was important and cared for.

Project Pomona Review 2012
Back
Meghan sent me an adorable pair of jeans in the new Stretch Faded Black option that was released at the end of November with and adorable Modern Paisley fabric accents around the cuffs!  They have cute pink snaps for the closures that make the jeans extra girly looking :)  You can roll or unroll the cuffs as much as you need for your little one and there are 4 snap settings on each side!!!  So you know you will be able to get a great fit over that fluffy bum (or can be used with a sposie bum also)!!

Please make sure to check out Meghan and Project Pomona on Facebook, Twitter and Pinterest to keep up to date on everything that is happening and where you can find giveaways for these awesome jeans :)

Cow Patties Cloth Diapers Stuffable AI2 - Review

Cow Patties Stuffable AI2 Review
Outside of diaper
I had the wonderful opportunity to work with Megan from Cow Patties Cloth Diapers over the past month!!!  Not only was Megan nice enough to sponsor a giveaway but she also allowed me to have the opportunity to review one of her diapers!!  She even let me pick the fabric :)

I received a stuffable AI2 diaper in the adorable Star Wars fabric!!!  Hubby loved the fabric since he is a huge Star Wars fan and I loved that Megan made it girly for Baby K by adding ruffles!!  Who doesn't love ruffles?!?!  Well I guess you wouldn't love them on your boy...or would you?  At 1st I was a little confused by the stuffable AI2 and wasn't sure how to use it.  But in reality it is a pocket diaper that you can use an insert in the pocket or lay it on top like an AI2.  Best of both worlds!  Make sure to check out Cow Patties on Facebook to see all the wonderful fabrics Megan has and to keep up to date with all that is happening.  You can also check her out on Twitter and Pinterest.

The Diaper Addict Hybrid AI2 - Review

Outside of Diaper
The 1st time I met Amie from The Diaper Addict was last spring.  She was invited to a meet up I was going to by a fellow WAHM that I know.  We met at the mall play place one morning, hung out, chatted and chased some little ones around!  Thinking back on it I believe this was in late March to early April, since I was picking up Baby K's birthday diaper and we were talking about the event.  I was still looking for a couple days to fill in April so Amie was generous enough to donate a set of cloth wipes for one of the days!  This is where things started but it was just the beginning :)

I followed The Diaper Addict on Facebook since our 1st meeting and have kept in touch with Amie.  We would chat every once in a while on Facebook, keep up with each others pages, and the other surface stuff.  During the Olympics was when everything started to go below the surface!  Pretty much everyday I was spotlighting one of the Olympic diapers she made!  I would message her with how many likes, comments, shares, etc. the diapers were getting!

bumGenius Elemental OS AIO - Review

Outside of Elemental
When I met with the wonderful owner of The Cloth Nook over a week ago see gave me a bumGenius Elemental OS AIO to review and GIVEAWAY!!!  I have wanted to try bumGenius for a while but just never got around to it.  I feel in love with their Albert print :) and Hannah was nice enough to allow me to have that print to review.  When I brought it home and showed my husband he LOVED it.  He is really not into CDing but goes along with it.  So to have him excited about this diaper was great.  Hubby is a Computer Engineer and I have a degree in Mathematics so the Albert print suits our family well!!!

About the diaper (from the manufacture)

My Thoughts

Ease:  For the most part the Elemental is extremely easy to use.  It is an AIO so there is no stuffing or extra parts to this diaper.  All you really have to do is snap the rise setting and snap it on the baby.  It is a little difficult to use at 1st since the absorbent area is attached a the front and the back only.  When you snap down the rise setting you have extra material in the absorbent area and have to fold it to fit better.  I try to fold it in the front of the middle area for Baby K since she is a girl.  Having to do this is not a big of a deal once you get the idea of how much and where to fold for your little one.  Cleaning up the poo out of the diaper is a little bit of a pain since both ends are attached to the diaper itself.  The 1st time I put the diaper on Baby K she decided to poo in it.  And not the nice kind but the I'm teething kind.  It was a mess and when I was done cleaning up the diaper the WHOLE thing was soaked :(  But it was worth it for how cute she looks in the diaper!!

On Baby K 19lbs
Price:  The bumGenius Elemental OS AIO is $24.95.  Most AIOs are around this price point.  You pay for easy and functionality.  I have found AIOs for around $10 cheaper but they do not have the cute prints/colors like the bumGenius.  Personally I don't know if I would buy an AIO for this price.  If the print called to me like the Albert did then I would :)  But honestly I am more of a pocket girl than an AIO girl.

Hanging out in the Elemental
When and Why I use it:  This diaper can hold A LOT of pee :)  Yesterday I decided to try and leave Baby K in the diaper as long as I could to see how much it could hold.  Finally after 3 1/2 hours I just couldn't leave her in it anymore.  Not because it was leaking but because I felt bad that she has been in it for that long :)  The thing can hold.  This is now one of my diapers that I use when "I just don't know when I will be able to change you again".  It also will be a great nap time diaper but I'm not sure if I would try it for overnight.  I have found a great system for overnight and I am afraid to try anything else.  For an AIO that has extra material to it (depending on the size of baby), it is extremely trim.  It looks great under a pair of pants and even better under a skirt :)

Elemental in a pair of jeans
Recommend:  I would definitely recommend the bumGenius Elemental OS AIO to anyone who wants ease and/or a fun print.  If you have not found an AIO that works for you yet I would try the bumGenius.  They have some of the most adorable prints I have seen and the construction of the diaper is top notch.  They make some of the most well know and popular diapers on the market, so they must be doing something right :)

Thank you to The Cloth Nook and especially to the owner Hannah.  You have been extremely generous and wonderful.  I have enjoyed getting to know you and I know that I will be seeing you soon!!

All opinions are my own and not influenced in any way.  The diaper was provided by The Cloth Nook NOT the Manufacturer for review.  No additional compensation was accepted for this review.
