Baby K's 1st Birthday Celebration GRAND PRIZE

After 29 long, wonderful and fun days we have come down to April 30th and the GRAND PRIZE!!!  This event was started to celebrate Baby K turning 1.  I set out to find 12 sponsors since she was born on the 12th.  It ended up being 30 days worth of wonderful sponsors and giveaway!!!  This event became more than I ever thought or imaged it could be!!!  30 days has been a LONG time :) but I have had the wonderful support of 7 other great bloggers!!!  Never did I think that there would be 8 wonderful Mama's and 30 awesome giveaways to help celebrate my little baby's birthday!!!  Everyone has been so wonderful along the way and I truly appreciate every single person who has been involved in this event.  From the sponsors to the bloggers and especially all the wonderful fans who have entered the giveaways.  I hope you have had as much fun with this event as I have.  It has been a lot of work, even more than I thought it would be, but totally worth it :)

Diaper Donks AI2 Cloth Diaper - Review

Outside of the Diaper

Jennifer from Diaper Donks sent me the cutest diaper EVER!!!  It is pink cheetah and has ruffles!  YES I said RUFFLES!  How much more girly and adorable can you get?  I received a OS AI2 with snap on ruffles.  Diaper Donks uses a fold over rise instead of the traditional Snap Down rise.  This is the only diaper I have that has the fold over rise.  When I 1st saw it I was kind of scared.  I had no idea how to use it!!!  But it is super simple.  For Baby K I fold over the top of the diapers and use the inside snaps.  It says that the diaper will fit from 10 lbs but for me I'm honestly not sure.  Baby K is 19.8lbs and I use the only rise there is.  I could see using the diaper around 15 lbs. maybe a little sooner but I think it will come up pretty high on baby.

My Thoughts

Smallest the Diaper will go

Ease:  My diaper came with 2 snap together lay on soakers.  All I have to do is snap the inserts together and snap them onto the diaper!!!  I then put it on Baby K, fold the inserts to fit her best, fold over the top of the diaper and then snap it on her.  I know it seems like a lot of sets but really it is not that bad :)  It is just as easy as any other AI2!

Largest Rise Setting

Price:  The specific diaper that I received, with ruffles, runs $25.  That price for a diaper with the little extra is a really good price for a WAHM diaper!!!  WAHM diapers usually run a little more than the big brand diapers because they are made with love and hands instead of with a huge machine.

Folded over on Baby K

When and Why I use it:  I use my Diaper Donks AI2 during the day.  I especially like to use it around the house when I know I am not going to be putting pants on Baby K!!!  I like to be able to put the ruffles on the diaper and be able to see them :)  Even when I put a skirt on Baby K the ruffles are so high on the diaper that I am unable to see them.  So I use it with out pants!!  I have also used it once or twice at nap time without any problems.  

Fold over rise

Recommend:  I would defiantly recommend checking out Diaper Donks!!!  Especially if you have a little girl :)  Diaper Donks has the cutest ruffle diapers and also skirtie diapers :)  Check them out and let them know you found out about them from SAH CD Mama!!!

Ruffles on Baby K!!!

Overall:  I would give the Diaper Donks OS AI2 a B- to a B.  I absolutely love the diaper but I am not in absolutely love with soakers.  One of the 2 soakers likes to curl around the edges.  But other than that I have not had any problems with the diaper at all :)

My Thoughts

Personally I am extremely picky about not only products that I put on myself and especially my kids but my husband is EXTREMELY picky about any scents that I wear!  The scents that I received, and have used the most, my husband has no problem with.  They are not over powering or smell like old lady :)  I use the BUTTer when one of us has extremely dry skin but on a daily basis I LOVE the creamy lotion.  The lotion goes on like silk!  It spreads easily and does not leave a nasty, greasy feeling behind.  It leaves your skin super smooth even after washing your hands.  My favorite scents are Blueberry Crumble (if you are in the mood for something sweet and yummy), Coconut Lime Dream (my absolute FAVORITE), and Monkey Farts (a classic but delicious smell).  Overall, CJ's BUTTer, lotion, Vegan formula and Lip Balm are well worth trying.  They have created some of the most well know products in the CD community.  They have a ton of different scents you can try in a ton of different products.  They even sell their sample sizes so you can find what you like the best!!!

Wool Dryer Balls from Fondle My Fiber - Review

Feba from Fondle My Fiber sent me 2 awesome dryer balls to review and also 2 to giveaway!!!  One of the ones I received looks like a dog and the other has a little decoration on it.  Thank you so much Feba for the wonderful review and giveaway :)

These dryer balls are not the spun kind.  They are totally felted all the way through.  These dryer balls are awesome in helping to reduce drying time.  I now have 4 dryer balls (2 are from Feba) and I notice that my clothes are done about 30 minutes sooner than before and my diapers are done about 15-20 minutes sooner.  Dryer balls a a great natural way to help reduce drying time and to also soften your clothes.  With 2 little kids I hate putting more on their clothes than there needs to be.  I have never used dryer sheets with them.  But the dryer balls are awesome in helping to keep their clothes soft!

They are an excellent alternative to dryer sheets, fabric softener, and plastic PVC balls.

Wool absorbs up to 30% of its weight in water so these dryer balls soften clothes, reduce drying time, save money, reduce static, reduce wrinkles, and are reusable for years.

GREAT for cloth diapers

Using 4 dryer balls on a 90 minute cycle will cut a small load of laundry approximately in 1/2 and a large load by 1/4! The more you use the better they work. They can be used on cloth diapers and all other laundry.

Piling may occur. They can be shaved if bothersome but it does not affect the performance of the dryer ball. If anything it may help them work better by providing more surface area and friction. They may also shrink slightly in size as the wool continues to felt.

There is no need to remove them in between loads and no need to wash.
I recommend starting with 4 dryer balls and adding more later. The more you add, the shorter your drying time
To further reduce static, add vinegar during your rinse cycle in your washing machine.

When the Juppy arrived it came in a beautiful silky little carrying pouch that is so small it's hard to believe a baby walker could fit inside.  That is a big selling point for the Juppy, it's so small it can fit in your purse and you can take it with you anywhere!  When you take the Juppy out of the case you can feel the high quality material that is used which makes it feel sturdy and safe for you little one to be in.  It has a zipper in the back and which makes it easy to slip on, also it has adjustable straps to adjusts to your height.

Why the Juppy Baby Walker?

The Juppy is doctor approved and uses parent assisted guidance which reduces your child's risk of injury.  This products allows you to support your child as they learn to balance and walk without having to constantly be bent over putting strain on your back.  Also I learned how many injuries babies suffer each year from wheeled walkers.  According to the Juppy website there are 21,000 injuries annually due to baby walkers.  Causes being: rolling down the stairs, children getting burned due to being able to reach hot liquids, and drowning due to rolling into a pool. My Opinion

So easy for Mommy

When I first saw the Juppy I thought "What an awesome idea!!"  It is so versatile and can not only help your child learn to walk but also learn balance.  When I put Abby in it she was instantly all smiles!  She was learning how to sit so I used this to help her get her balance.   She isn't quite ready to be walking yet but we put her in the Juppy for some weight bearing and balancing fun!  I really like that you can take it anywhere, I'm thinking it may go with us to the beach so my daughter can get her toes in the water and be safe as she is learning to walk.  I would recommend this product to anyone with young children, especially any caregivers with pre-existing back problems.

 

You can currently buy the Juppy for $29.95 or $19.95 without the inside lining.  Also if you want for an additional $6.95 you can have it personalized.  Is it worth the price? I think the price is very reasonable for a walker, especially one so versatile! I will definitely be telling my friends about the Juppy!!

Couture Fluff OS AI2 Twiggy Fit Diaper - Review

So all WAHM diapers are the same, right?  Wrong!!!  Every WAHM has their own little tweaks and style to their diaper.  And of course Tanya at Couture Fluff is no exception!  Tanya offers 3 different types of diapers in 2 styles and a ton of other items!!!  You can check out all of her items on her website :)
Tanya sent Baby K and I a OS AI2 in the Twiggy Fit to review!!  The Twiggy Fit is super slim compared to some diapers and you can never go wrong with an AI2!!  The outside of the diaper is a really cool print (Baslik I think?!?!) and the inside is done in a coordinating blue.  Plus the soakers color matches also :)  Tanya gives you the option to have no rise on your diaper, a fold down rise or the traditional snap down rise.  TOO MANY CHOICES :)

A three soaker system, as is the top and bottom soaker, the MAIN soaker are cotton velour and organic bamboo fleece. The optional BOOSTER, snaps into the main soaker and is made from a layer of Zorb II.

2nd Setting

Ease:  There is a little more work involved, at first, when it comes to an AI2.  You have to snap in the soaker, snap down the rise, position the soaker correctly on the baby and then snap on the diaper.  Not a huge deal but a little more work than other types of diapers.

Price:  WAHM diapers tend to be more expensive than the big company diapers.  But they also have a lot more love and care put into making them.  I've said before that I have a hard time spending more than $20 on a diaper and these around around $24+.  But when you know it is going to a real person and not a huge company it makes the price tag more bearable (at least for me).

Largest Setting

When and why I use it :  I use it all the time :)  Duh!!!  I love the way WAHMs are constructed.  They fit Baby K great and for some reason the snap placement is always great!!!  I have used it at nap time once and I wouldn't again :(  When Baby K woke up the outside of the diaper was wet.  I have never had this happen before so I am not sure what went on.  But when I use it on her any other time of the day it is just fine.

Recommend:  Honestly I would not rave in a review about a diaper and then not recommend it :)  I honestly at this point don't even know why I still have this section on my review!!!  But if you are willing to pay a little more for something that is unique I would go with a WAHM diaper!!!  Tanya has a TON and I mean a TON of prints to chose from.  There is something for everyone and most likely (where you live) you will be the only one with that diaper!!!

Couture Fluff on Baby K

Overall:  I would give the Couture Fluff OS AI2 Twiggy Fit diaper a B to B+.  The construction is great and so is the design of the diaper.  For me I would like the soaker pads to be a little longer than they are.  I like to have them folded over 4 times where Baby K pees :)  And these just don't reach.  They are better for boys probably :)  But I would definitely check Tanya out on Facebook and her website to see if there is something special for your little one.

I also keep some without lanolin on hand for a couple customers who have sensitivities to lanolin, and you're welcome to that as well. The Stick o BUTTer has the same ingredients, except there is no lanolin. Fragrance or essential oils are only added if you choose to have it scented.

Booty Buns OS Diaper - Review

Outside of Diaper

The Booty Buns OS Diaper is not your average pocket diaper.  It is different than any other pocket diaper I own!!  And NO that is not a bad thing :)  For starters it is not a TRADITIONAL pocket, it's an envelope pocket.  Now if you are still new to CDing you are probably wondering what an envelope pocket is.  And envelope pocket opens on both sides, making it super easy to stuff and technically you don't have to unstuff it to wash.  Also the Booty Buns OS Diaper has a snap in the front to keep the insert in place (genius)!!!  Plus their is a layer of PUL at the front to help with wicking onto your little ones clothes.  And the last thing I find that makes this diaper different from ALL other pocket diapers.........How soft and flexible the diaper is!!!  The 1st time I held the Booty Buns OS in my hands it just fell over :)  It is not stiff like a lot of diapers are and the colors are great!!

The wonderful Booty Buns allowed me to chose what color I would like to review on Baby K.  It was a hard choice :)  I had narrowed it down to Love Booty and Royal Booty (LOVE the names).  I decided to go with Royal Booty because there are not as many purple diapers on the market as their are pink.  The diaper came with 2 inserts, like most OS diapers do.  I do wish that you could snap both inserts together and then put them in the diaper.  I like to use both inserts for nap time or long car trips.  You can use both inserts together but I wish I could snap them together and then to the diaper for added security.  There are also a TON of rise settings and cross over snaps.  It goes super small to super big!!!

About the Diaper (From the Manufacturer)

     

Our Original Booty Cloth Diaper, is the only TRUE ONE-SIZE POCKET CLOTH DIAPER available on the market. Our patent pending design will grow with your baby all the way from birth to potty training because it fits from 3-45 pounds.

Smallest rise setting

Our Original Booty Cloth Diaper comes with 4 rows of riser snaps to give you 5 levels of height adjustment; 10 rows of double waist snaps, and 2 rows of crossover waist snaps to find the best fit for your baby's booty. We also have a hip snap on either side to help prevent wing droop. The amount of snaps we use along with their strategic placement allows our diapers to mimic the sizing found in conventional disposable diapers from preemie to potty training pants. Please see here to find out which snap settings compare to each size. Please note, that it may be necessary to adjust the waist snaps to smaller or larger depending on your child.

2nd rise setting

Our ONE SIZE POCKET CLOTH DIAPERS consist of 3 different components: shell, insert and liner & we now offer a matching cloth wipe with each diaper. The shell is composed of an outer layer and an inner layer that create a pocket in between the 2 layers. There is an opening in the front and the back of the diaper creating an envelope style pocket. The pocket is used for stuffing the absorbent inserts into. The liner is placed on top of the diaper becoming the layer closest to your baby's booty. The cloth wipe measures 7.5" x 7.5" & is double sided; one side is 100% cotton flannel & the other side is jersey micro-terry cloth.

3rd rise setting

The outer layer of the shell is made from waterproof polyurethane laminated fabric {PUL}. The inner layer of the shell is made from super soft suedecloth. Suedecloth is known for its ability to wick moisture away, keeping baby drier, and ability to stay new looking longer. Our cloth diapers have double gussets the suedecloth and another elastic strip at the back to better contain explosions. Each diaper comes with 2 inserts {newborn and large size}. Each insert is composed of 3 layers of microfiber terrycloth.  These super absorbent inserts can be used alone or as doubler for night-time or heavy wetters.  The diaper and insert snap together to keep the insert in place. We also include a 100% cotton flannel liner to place between your baby and the diaper. The cotton flannel makes cleanup from a BM easier and helps babies with sensitivities to synthetic fibers.

4th rise setting

Every part of our one size pocket cloth diapers is 100% machine washable:

shell, inserts, liner & wipe.

My Thoughts

Ease: The Booty Buns OS is super easy to use. All you do is snap the rise to the setting for your baby (They even give you a chart for compared to disposables), snap in your inserts, pull it through, and snap on baby. Can you really get any easier? Plus they give you a coordinating piece of flannel for the inside to make it even easier to clean up when baby poops!!! And now they also supply you with 1 wipe. It is a true ALL-IN-ONE package!!

Price: For me the price is on the high side! The diaper is $25.50 and then shipping is another $6 (no matter how many diapers you buy). For me, I like to stay under $20 for a pocket diaper. But when you add in the wipe and the flannel liner it makes the price not so bad :) For an everything "kit" it seems a lot more reasonable. 

5th and largest rise setting

When and Why I use it:  Well I use it because it was sent to me :)  NO that is not the only reason I use it!!!  I use it because it is super soft and I love the bright vibrant color.  I also use it because even with only the large insert the thing can hold!!!  I have not used this diaper at nap or night.  I have used it for longer car rides though.  I love using it when I know that I am going to be able to show it off :)  Especially under a cute skirt.

Recommend:  I would totally recommend this diaper!!!  Especially if you LOVE pockets and want to try something different.  There are only so many different types of diapers out there to try.  And I love trying all the different types.  The Booty Buns OS diaper is the classic pocket with a new and different twist.  It is worth having at least 1 of these in your stash.  If for nothing else then the AWESOME colors.

Booty Buns OS on Baby K

Overall:   I would give the Booty Buns OS an A- to an A.  I absolutely love everything about this diaper except that I can't snap the 2 inserts together.  I know it sounds like a silly thing but to me, for some odd reason, it means a lot :)  I love that this diaper can be used from Itty Bitty to Potty Training!!!  It truly is a OS diaper.  You can tell when you look at the diaper how big the size range is for it.  Booty Buns you have done a wonderful job!!!  You can order a diaper from their website or from one of their retailers :)
